The storm had arrived unexpectedly. Jacob stood by the window, watching the rain lash against the glass, as thunder rumbled through the sky. Amid the darkening clouds, the city seemed to hold its breath. In the living room, his sister Maria paced nervously, clutching her phone, waiting for news of their parents. "I didn’t know where else to go..." she muttered, shivering. "The storm is so fierce tonight." Jacob stepped aside, allowing her into the warmth of their home.
