The Curious Coincidence
Sarah was sitting in her usual spot at the café, sipping on her coffee, when she saw something that made her almost spill it. A man, looking very much out of place in his gray suit, walked in and ordered the same coffee she had been drinking for years. It wasn’t the coffee, though, that caught her attention. It was the man’s face. She knew him. Or at least, she thought she did. She hadn’t seen him in years. Her heart raced as she wondered what might happen next. 'Oh, it’s you,' she said, standing up and walking towards him. 'I never thought I’d see you again.' The man looked up, equally startled. 'I didn’t think I’d run into you, either.' They exchanged stories. Sarah learned that he had been living in another city and had just come back to visit his parents. What had happened in between? Not much, except life, in all its messiness, had unfolded around them. It was almost as if the universe had planned this very moment, though neither of them had expected it. As they talked, Sarah reflected on how things sometimes just happen. She had happened to be at the café that morning, and so had he. They both could have been elsewhere, but they weren’t. It seemed like fate—or at least a curious coincidence—that brought them back together. As the afternoon sun set, they said their goodbyes, promising to stay in touch. 'It was good to catch up,' Sarah said, her heart lighter. She had never believed in fate, but sometimes, things just happened that made you wonder. 'You never know what’s going to happen next.'
